Gao Feng was born in 1975 in Urumi, Xinjiang Province and gradutated in 1994 from the Fine Arts Department of the Xinjiang Normal Universicty and in 1995 from the Sculpture Department of the China Central Fine Arts Academy. Gao Feng works range from performance, installation, sculpture to painting.
In the Micro Organism series, Gao Feng focusses on the parallels of human beings and microscopic life. The emphasis is on the role microscopic organisms play in nature. Are we part of microscopic life or is microscopic life part of us? Gao Feng examines human beings to reveal the teeming unseen life present there, and shows how, with a “microscope or hand-held lens”, we can explore the wonders of biology.
