Tang Jianying was born in 1963 in Hebei Province, China. He grew up in a dramatic period of Chinese history. He deeply immerses himself into the past experiences and memories, with depression and captivity. Those experiences are also the main subject of his paintings. The Cultural Revolution had great impact on his life and his art. During those times the Chinese society was dangerous, depressing and chaotic and people couldn’t have an own opinion. But even today nobody is totally free. Even in the Western society. No one is not in the web, no one is not in the cage, no one is not in the prison. Some are in a a corporeal cage, some are in a immaterial web, while others are in a material prison. There is hope for us in this life?
