Shi Lifeng was born in 1968 in Hebei Province, China. In 1991 Lifeng graduated from the Hebei Normal University. Lifeng is an worldwide exhibited artist with shows in China, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland (including the famous Art Basel) and the USA.
Lifeng tries to visualize the relationship between people and their surrounding world. In some paintings Lifengs red figures reflect the marginalized minority in the Chinese historical society. Vulnarable groups of individuals, struggling to survive in the collectivated Chinese Society of those days. They are running, climbing and falling, in order to get out of there desperate situation.
His work is however not only focussed on historical polical society. Of course history is important, but can it still determine people’s live today and even their future? According to Lifeng it is important in todays Chinese live to learn and use the individual intellect, discover the world and be creative. In some paintings we see the red figures fly over the world. There arises a new world order.
