He Sen

He Sen was born in 1968 in Yunnan Province, China.  He graduated in 1989 from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in Chongqing. From 1995 untill 1999 Sen studied at the Kunsthochschulle in Kassel, Germany. Currently the artist also teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.

He Sen is famous for his paintings of young girls lacking interest in the society and are totally not motivated.  Girls who only want to shop and watch soap television. The figures reflect the negative sides of the new Chinese society which is too much focussed on consumerism. He Sen works are wordwide exhibited, Noticably is his presence at the Chinese Pavilion at the 53d Venice Biennal in Italy.

Selected collections: Los Angeles County museum of Art, Los Angeles; Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver.
